This renovated apartment, located in the center of Havířov, transforms the original three-room apartment and studio into a single comprehensive living space. The result is a modern, open, and bright apartment for a family of four.
Open Space
Originally separated areas of the living room, dining room, kitchen, and entrance hall have been merged into one open space. The bathroom was relocated to the center of the layout, creating a generous living area where the central bathroom becomes a visually and functionally interesting element around which the entire apartment dynamically revolves.
Sliding Glass Doors
The flexibility of the space is ensured by sliding glass doors that allow the living room, kitchen, and hallway to be separated as needed, or conversely, to connect all these areas into one whole. This maximizes the free space and natural light, offering the possibility of free movement, such as for children who can run around the central core.
Existing and proposed layout
Living Area
The living area is furnished with a comfortable sofa, providing space for relaxation and family moments together. The dominant feature is a wall-mounted bookshelf, which, besides offering practical storage, adds a personal touch to the interior. A large dining table connects the living room with the dining area, ideal for family meals or hosting guests. The kitchen is visually connected with the other zones, ensuring that the entire space feels unified and harmonious.
Rest Area
The northeastern part of the apartment is dedicated to private, rest areas. Both the bedroom and the children’s room remain separated from the central living area, maintaining their peaceful atmosphere. The bedroom features minimalist elements that are both cozy and aligned with the overall concept of the apartment—natural materials, wooden accents, and subtle lighting.
Bathroom – Central Core Principle
The bathroom and WC space were merged, expanding the overall hygienic facilities. The bathroom is designed with retro tiles combined with simple wall tiles, storage spaces in oak decor, and white sanitary fittings. The ambiance of the bathroom is enhanced by a striking circular mirror and a round window in the door, which brings natural light into the space.
Hidden Home Office with Its Own Bathroom
The home office, located in the original studio space, is hidden behind “secret” doors with concealed frames. This design detail not only adds a playful element to the space but also allows for a quiet and undisturbed work environment.
The original WC with a sink was enlarged and complemented by a glass shower, which not only gives the bathroom a modern look but also brings natural light into the room, making the space fresh and airy.
