Public space can get new face and cleaner air. Tx ActiveTree – a natural air cleaner as a symbol Tx active technology. TX Active is a technology that uses daylight to break down harmful substances in the air. Tx Active Tree propagates this technology, warns people away the air pollution and improves the quality of the air.
The sculpture is designed as a combination of an organic shape of a tree and a classical architectural archetype- a column. Tree offers protection against the sun and rain, provides shade, serves as refuge and shelter for many animals in the wild, a lots of people looks up tree company for relaxation. Column or obelisk represents a memorial, a prominent landmark and a meeting point. So our Tree sculpture serves as a prominent landmark, a meeting point for relaxing and socializing. Roots of the tree offer seating, a tree crown offers a shelter and an interesting game of shadows. The sculpture impresses always different from various views. It makes the urban area plesant and more interesting thanks its organic form. It can be placed as a detached sculpture or in a group anywhere, in any size and color combination.
The tree consits of several prefabricated concrete shells. Shells are connected and assembled on a site, reinforced with ribs. Tx Active tree can be produced as a type product/ a casting for use in various places. Production of more pieces can reduce costs, so more cities can afford this functional architectural element.
We modeled our design in Rhino using the plug-in Grasshopper.
The plug-in also helped develop the model into parts, so it was possible to build a physical model.
