The silo in Heralec should be transformed into a business and cultural centre. Weddings or business events can be held there. It complements a nearby castle renovated into a romantic luxury hotel.
The main design principles
We tried to preserve genius loci and its effect on the landscape. We haven´t interfered much to the original structure. Contemporary architecture elements doesn´t imitate the original, but they are placed sensitively to the original environment and declare the new function of the building.
Lay-out
We come into a spacious foyer, which is partly open to the upper floors. Then we come to a reception and a bar with facilities. The bar is closely connected to an outdoor terrace. There are toilets, a cloakroom and other facilities on the ground floor. The first floor is reserved for working groups. The rooms are acoustically separated. On the second floor there is a large hall designed to hold seminars, conferences or theater performances. This space is lightened because of low clear height of the hall. This is achieved by removing a ceiling on the sides of the hall. We propose also another smaller hall with toilets and warehouse in the opposite part of the second floor. The third floor is intended for exhibitions and workshops.
